A spike in interest

Volleyball takes the court for first time at WMS

On Oct. 19, the sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-graders were very excited. That day they would be competing against the Westwood Bulldogs in the first ever volleyball game at Watertown Middle School.

Friends and family filled the bleachers and cheered them on against Westwood. Watertown won the first game, but Westwood took the next two and the match.

Although the team lost, it came close, and many players did very well.

“I fulfilled all [of the individual] goals and accomplishments I set for the first game of the season,” said Ashlee W. “I’m very happy with the outcome.”

Many others agreed, including Gui Gui H.

“We worked hard and tried our best, although we didn’t call the balls as often as we should,” she said.
