Community Explorers club shows that it cares

After-school group putting together care packages for overseas troops

Katherine Dolan, Watertown Splash staff

The Community Explorers after-school club’s mission is to give back to the community. Currently, the group is organizing a drive to collect needed items for troops in Afghanistan.

The club is asking students to bring in lotions, body powders, batteries (AA,AAA, C, and 9 volt), hand warmers, tissues, games and puzzles, individually wrapped gum and hard candy, and winter hats.

According to Ms. Whitten, the goal is to send out care packages as soon as possible so that they will arrive in Afghanistan by Christmas.
