‘Wait Till Helen Comes’ a bone-chilling read

One amazing, bone-chilling book that I have just read is called “Wait Till Helen Comes” by Mary Downing Hahn.

This book is about a 12-year-old girl named Molly and her 10-year-old brother, Michael. They have a younger stepsister named Heather, who they don’t like at all.

Molly and Michael’s life has been miserable after their mother and Heather’s dad got married because of how annoying Heather is. Now they have all moved into the same house that used to be a church, with a cemetery as their backyard. (Creepy, huh?)

If that’s not bad enough, now Heather starts communicating with a ghost named Helen, and begins warning Michael and Molly that Helen is coming for them.

Molly feels that Heather is in danger, but every time she tries to help, Heather twists things around to get Molly in trouble. Things could not possibly get any worse. But they do — when Helen comes…

Suspenseful, mysterious, and mind-blowing are some words that describe this book. If you love to read mysteries and scary stories, then this is the book for you.

“Wait Till Helen Comes” has lots of great description, and it is a fast-paced book. It made me think about respect because it teaches that even if you don’t really like someone, respect them, and help them if they are in a difficult or tough situation. Heather is in a bad situation, but even though Molly doesn’t like her, she wants to keep her safe.

This book will make you want to keep reading. It always has something interesting going on, either Molly gets in trouble, they see Helen, or there’s another mysterious event.

I recommend this book to students from fourth grade through middle school. It is definitely a book that you don’t want to put down!
