Evelyn Fuchs makes herself at home in her new eighth-grade classroom.

Isn’t it cool to see your teacher from the past?

About one-fourth of the kids in Cluster 5 are having Evelyn Fuchs for the second time. One of those kids is Kaylee C.

“I think it is cool because she was my sixth-grade teacher, and now she’s my homeroom teacher,’’ Kaylee said. “Yes I did enjoy Ms. Fuchs because we had fun times in class.”

Kaylee also said Ms. Fuchs is, in fact, a very good teacher. She encourages her students to work hard and lets them have the right amount of fun, too. One fun time that Kaylee had was when the math class played Bingo for candy. Kaylee says that one of the things that made the game so much fun was Ms. Fuchs’ energy and “ecstaticness.”

It seems that Ms. Fuchs also enjoys being in the eighth grade.

“I totally enjoy it!” she said. “I’ll miss the sixth-grade students, because I loved how they all came from different schools — Cunniff, Lowell, Hosmer — and how they don’t know how the middle school works. I think they’re hysterical, but I enjoy the math in eighth grade.”

Without even knowing Ms. Fuchs, you can tell that she loves math. As of now, she said she prefers the eighth grade.

“I really like the math,” she said. From the experiences that other kids have had, having her for a teacher will be a fun and educational class.
