Giving remains a tradition
Watertown Middle School gathers 35 baskets
Every year at Thanksgiving time, the Watertown Middle School helps those in need in the community by donating baskets of food.
Each homeroom takes responsibility of filling one basket and bringing in some extra food or gift cards. The food is collected from the homerooms, as well as from teachers and others at WMS, and the Thanksgiving baskets are filled with perishable and nonperishable items.
Once the baskets are ready, they are delivered to local families that need extra help or families that are newly arrived from other countries. Families come pick up a basket or one of the many teacher volunteers deliver them. This year, 35 baskets were delivered for Thanksgiving!
This event is a very important activity at WMS because it gives everybody a chance to help families during the Thanksgiving holiday.
