The Watertown Splash was founded in September 2009 at Watertown (Mass.) Middle School. The stories are reported, written, and edited by the seventh- and eighth-graders in the Newspaper enrichment class.

Last year, Watertown Middle School raised the most money in the region in the Pennies for Patients drive for the 11th straight year, and was No. 4 in the country. This year's drive ran from March 2 to March 23.
