All 14 players on the Watertown Middle School boys’ basketball team showed heart this year, as well as their commitment and love for the game.

One of the team’s goals this season was to go undefeated.

“You have to have a good attitude, persevere, and be supportive of our teammates,” said Kevin D., explaining how he tried to act as a role model for the younger kids on the team.

Kevin summed up practices as being “a lot of running, hard work, and suicides.”

The team goes over plays and does 3-on-2 drills and 2-on-1, but he said that he expected this hard work and was ready to take on the difficulties.

Eighth-grader Cesar F. is an amazing defender who also puts points on the board. Cesar, a captain, praised seventh-grader Marques R.

“He has became a huge part on our team with his nasty rebounds and his many points on offense,” Cesar said. “He has really shown us his commitment and hard work and it’ll pay off in the long run.”

Marques explained how basketball is his favorite sport and that is why he is so committed to being the best.
