Seventh-graders’ fund-raiser idea: Dress for success (of fund-raiser)

REBECCA C. and KAITLYN M.

Pennies for Patients started March 1, and Kathleen Dias’s homeroom will be holding a dress-your-teacher fund-raiser to help the seventh-graders raise money for the charity.

Ms. Dias’s homeroom students will be selling tickets for 50 cents during homeroom. Students will be able to buy tickets from March 9 to March 2.

“I am hoping it will turn out really well,” she said. “Last year we had a lot of fun, both the teachers and students. I dressed up as a nerd. Everyone had fun in the end. It was a great way to raise money for Pennies for Patients.”

Ms. Dias doesn’t know what date the teachers will dress up, but she does know that all the grades will have teachers dressed up on the same day.

Ms. Dias’s students have already chosen the categories for this year. They are ninja, nerd, hippie, rapper, and ’50s chick.

“If you want to see Mr. Oates dressed as a nerd,” Ms. Dias said, “bring 50 cents during homeroom to vote.
