This year, many seventh-graders at Watertown Middle School were crushed by the fact that their humanities teacher, Kerri Lorigan, departed over Christmas break on a six-month trip to Asia and Europe.

Ms. Lorigan is visiting 11 countries on her trip, and homeschooling her children along the way.

“I feel like traveling has opened up my understanding of the world, everywhere you go is a teacher,” she said before she left.

She sure will have a lot to do and see.

The countries she is planning on going to are Japan, China, Thailand, Sri Lanka, India, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel, Turkey, Greece, and Italy.

Ms. Lorigan is going to see many cultures that are very different from the ones in Massachusetts. Even though six months seems like almost eternity for the students at Watertown Middle School, it will probably go by very fast for Ms. Lorigan and her kids.

WMS will see her soon enough, but right now, her students hope that she and her family enjoy their educational vacation.
