WMS football wins big
December 5, 2010
Watertown Middle School’s football team came up with a big win, 33-0, over Oak Hill on Oct. 20, 2010. The win was its third in a row against Newton. Watertown has scored an average of over 30 points per game, while Newton has been shut out each time.
Jake Roche scored three touchdowns and had nearly 100 yards rushing with the help of the offensive line. Marques Richardson and Brandon Merullo scored one touchdown each. Angel Carrion, Anthony Busconi, Erik Baghdasaryan, and Nick Lanni combined for 12 sacks in a tremendous win.
A month earlier, on Sept. 22., Watertown lost to Bedford, 16-12, a game the Raiders would sure like to replay. Although the team lost by 4 points, coach Eric Lochiatto said, “We deserved that win!”
Watertown played tough and cracked pads throughout the game. But, toward the end, Bedford scored with a bit of luck. For most of the game, Watertown pounded right through the line like monsters. It was as if there was no way Bedford could stop the Red Raiders.
Busconi had two greatly important sacks, while Richardson scored two touchdowns.
